Option 1: BORDA ATV sit astride training


BORDA ATV sit astride driver training equips you with the essential skills for safe and effective driving. Get ready to handle tough terrain with confidence. BORDA Offer three levels of ATV sit astride training: Basic, Standard and Higher. Read the descriptions of each level below and decide which level is the best fit for you or your staff. BASIC LEVEL This is suitable for drivers/operators that drive on mild terrain with reasonable traction, with only gentle slopes up to 15 degrees.

The course will include:

  • Informing trainees of the laws and regulations and HSE obligations when operating these machines
  • the use of the correct PPE
  • how the transmission works and the operation of any of the controls fitted to the vehicle
  • daily safety checks

We then cover the practical riding and operating of the machine and the importance of weight shift. This course can include loads and towing.

STANDARD LEVEL This will include all of the basic level course with the addition of:

  • Steeper gradients
  • Rougher terrain
  • Crossing obstacles

This course can include loads and towing.

HIGHER LEVEL Will include all of the basic level and the standard level.

The competence of the operator must be good to progress to the higher level. This level includes training for much higher risk situations.

Option 2: LANTRA ATV sit astride training


Our LANTRA course will guide you through all the key areas you need in order to master ATV riding. With a balance of theory and practice we'll teach you how to stay safe, maximise your abilities and get the best out of your vehicle. By the end of the course, you'll be able to:

  • Comply with legal requirements, with an emphasis on safe practice
  • Identify the risks associated with using a sit-astride ATV
  • Select and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Understand the main causes of accidents
  • Identify the controls and components
  • Understand the functions of all the instruments
  • Carry out daily checks as indicated in the manufacturer's operator manual
  • Carry out appropriate pre-start checks
  • Identify and report any faults
  • Carry out an on-site risk assessment and plan the route
  • Identify loading and towing capacities.
